Signs you need sliding door track repair.
The track is the highway your door rides on. It's a small aluminum or steel channel that guides the rollers and keeps the panel moving straight. When it gets bent, corroded, or packed with debris, the whole door struggles. Here's what to look for.
Door Jumps Off Track
The panel lifts out of the channel or derails when you push it. Usually caused by a bent or warped track section.
Grinding or Scraping Noise
Metal-on-metal sounds when the door moves. Dents in the track catch the rollers and create resistance.
Visible Dents or Bends
You can see where the track is crushed, bent upward, or pushed out of shape. This won't fix itself.
Debris Buildup Won't Clean Out
Dirt, pet hair, and grit packed so deep into the channel that vacuuming and scrubbing can't clear it.
Door Wobbles Side to Side
The panel sways or rocks as it slides. The track walls may be worn flat and can't guide the rollers properly.
Uneven Gap at Bottom
One side of the door sits lower than the other. A warped track throws the panel out of level.
Why tracks fail on the Treasure Coast
Florida's humidity and salt air are tough on tracks. We see corrosion eat through aluminum tracks on barrier island homes in Hutchinson Island and Jensen Beach far faster than inland homes. Sand and fine grit blow into the channel daily, packing down into a hard layer that grinds the rollers and wears the track flat. Homes near construction zones in Port St. Lucie get concrete dust in the tracks too. If your track looks like this photo, a simple cleaning won't be enough. The channel needs professional restoration or replacement.
Sound familiar? Don't wait on this one. A damaged track puts extra stress on the rollers and frame. What starts as a $129 track repair can turn into a $500+ job if the rollers crack or the frame warps. Call us at (772) 207-4146 and we'll usually get to you the same day.
How we repair sliding door tracks.
Track repair is one of our most common calls. We've done thousands of these across the Treasure Coast, so we know exactly what to look for and how to fix it fast.
Inspect the Full System
We check the track, rollers, frame, and lock. Track damage and roller wear often happen together, so we look at everything to give you the full picture.
Clean and Clear the Channel
We remove all debris, hardened dirt, and corrosion from the track using professional tools. Sometimes this alone solves the problem.
Straighten or Replace
Minor bends get straightened with track-specific tools. If the track is corroded through or badly damaged, we install a new one matched to your door.
Test and Adjust
We put the panel back, adjust the roller height, test the slide in both directions, and confirm the lock catches the strike plate. You'll feel the difference immediately.
Track repair vs. track replacement
Most track jobs are repairs, not full replacements. If the track has a few dents or a section of light corrosion, we can reshape and restore it on site. Full replacement is only needed when the track is corroded through, cracked, or the channel is worn so flat that rollers can't grip. We always try the less expensive fix first. If the track does need replacing, we carry common sizes on the truck and can usually finish the same visit. Impact-rated doors from brands like PGT and Andersen sometimes require specific track profiles, which we can source in 24 to 48 hours.
Track caps matter too
The track cap is the end piece that keeps the door from sliding off the edge of the track. We see broken and missing track caps all the time, especially on older doors in Fort Pierce and Stuart. A missing cap means the door can actually slide right off the end of the track, which is a safety issue. We replace these as part of any track repair job.
Track Repair Pricing
* Estimated labor costs. Parts and materials may be additional. We quote the exact price before starting.
Track cleaning and minor straightening starts at $129. Full track replacement on standard doors runs $199 to $349, depending on track length and door type. Impact-rated and oversized doors may be at the higher end. Price includes parts and labor. We confirm the exact cost before we start, so there are no surprises. If we find the rollers need replacing too, we'll quote that separately.
Track repair for every major sliding door brand.
We work on tracks from every brand you'll find in Treasure Coast homes. Whether it's a builder-grade door from a Lennar community in Port St. Lucie or a premium Marvin door in a Vero Beach waterfront condo, we've got the right parts and know-how.
Keeping your track clean between service visits
Want to keep your track in good shape? Vacuum the channel once a month. Use a damp cloth to wipe down the rails. Don't spray WD-40 in the track, as it attracts dust and makes things worse over time. A dry silicone spray works better. For more tips, check out our guide on how to clean sliding door tracks. And if the grime won't come out no matter what you try, that's when you call us.
