Signs your storefront lock needs repair.
Storefront locks take a beating from daily use, weather, and the occasional rough handling. When they start to fail, your business security is at risk. Here's what to look for.
Key Won't Turn
The key goes in but won't rotate. The cylinder pins are worn, dirty, or corroded, or the key itself is worn down.
Deadbolt Stuck
The deadbolt won't extend or retract smoothly. Internal mechanism is binding, or the bolt and strike plate are misaligned.
Thumb Turn Broken
The interior thumb turn spins freely or snaps off. The tailpiece connecting it to the lock mechanism has broken.
Cylinder Loose
The lock cylinder wobbles or can be pulled out from the door face. The set screw or mounting clip has failed.
Push/Pull Bar Bent
The storefront pull handle or push bar is bent, cracked, or loose from the glass door. Mounting hardware has failed.
Lock Frozen or Seized
The entire lock mechanism is frozen and nothing moves. Internal corrosion or lack of lubrication has seized the works.
Types of storefront locks we repair
We work on every type of storefront lock found on the Treasure Coast. Adams Rite narrow-stile locks are the most common on aluminum storefront doors. Mortise locks fit inside the door edge and handle heavy commercial traffic. Standard deadbolts provide basic security on back doors and offices. Cylinder locks and thumb turn combinations are found on glass storefront doors everywhere from Stuart to Vero Beach. Whatever type you've got, we can fix it or replace it.
Don't leave your business unsecured. A broken lock is an invitation for trouble, and it only gets worse with time. Call us at (772) 207-4146 and we'll usually get to you the same day.
How we repair storefront locks.
We've fixed storefront locks on retail stores, restaurants, offices, and medical facilities all across the Treasure Coast. Here's what to expect.
Inspect the Lock System
We check the cylinder, lock body, deadbolt, strike plate, and door alignment. We identify the exact cause of the problem before we start.
Quote the Repair
We tell you what's wrong and give you the price. If rekeying works, we'll save you money over a full replacement. You decide before we proceed.
Repair or Replace
We clean and lubricate cylinders, replace worn pins, swap out broken lock bodies, rekey cylinders, or install new hardware as needed.
Test Security
We test the lock from both sides, check the bolt throw, verify key operation, and make sure the door secures properly. You get new keys if we rekeyed.
When to rekey vs. replace
Rekeying is the smart move when the lock body is in good shape but you need to change who has access. It's common after a tenant moves out, an employee leaves, or you lose a set of keys. We swap the internal pins so old keys won't work anymore and cut you a new set on site. Full lock replacement is needed when the lock body itself is damaged, worn out, or you want to upgrade to a higher-security model. We carry common Adams Rite, Schlage, and BEST lock cylinders on the truck. For residential sliding door lock repair, we handle those too.
Flush bolts and multi-point locks
Double storefront doors use flush bolts to secure the inactive leaf. When these wear out, the inactive door won't stay closed and the active door can't latch properly. We replace flush bolts, dust-proof strikes, and multi-point locking hardware on all storefront door configurations. We see a lot of flush bolt issues on older storefronts in Fort Pierce and Palm City where the original hardware has been in service for 15 to 20 years. If your storefront also needs electric strike repair for access control integration, we handle that in the same visit.
Storefront Lock Repair Pricing
* Estimated labor costs. Parts and materials may be additional. We quote the exact price before starting.
Cylinder rekeying and lubrication starts at $89. Cylinder replacement runs $120 to $200. Full mortise lock or Adams Rite lock replacement costs $200 to $350, depending on the lock type and security grade. Price includes parts and labor. We confirm the exact cost before we start.
